A Guide to Fungicide Resistance in Turf Systems - FSA6146

چکیده
Fungicides are applied to turf to prevent the growth or penetration of disease-causing fungal organisms. Fungal organisms cause more diseases on turf than other microorganisms (Wong, 2006). Fungicides are the class of pesticides used to control fungal organisms, and they can be catego rized into many different groups based on their biochemical mode of action (MOA) and chemical structure. Additionally, fungicides are classified based on their mobility in the plant after application.

Resistance to Phosphite Fungicide
There are a number of turf fungicides the activity of which is based on the phosphite (=phosphonate) ion (P03-). Chipco Signature fungicide (active ingredient fosetyl-Al) is the most common, and has become a "keystone" product for disease control programs on many golf courses across the country. This is in part because of the general enhancement in quality on stressed turfgrass that has been re...

Diseases of golf green turfgrasses cause unsightly spots and discolorations that are undesirable and unacceptable to golf course managers and the golfing public. The development of highly effective turfgrass fungicides has revolutionized disease management of turf, especially on golf courses. However, high levels of fungicides are required. Fungicide usage on golf courses, and greens especially...

I B entgrasses are grown for golf purposes under conditions more severe and restrictive than for grasses grown under natural field conditions. As a result, prevention and control of disease becomes more difficult, particularly on greens. Bentgrass greens require large applications of nitrogen fertilizer each year. These high levels of nitrogen are needed to maintain the vigor of grass subjected...
